www.lasvegasmtg.com Report: Why I loved my Cheap Trick in Las Vegas!
http://www.lasvegasmtg.com: Why I loved my Cheap Trick in Las Vegas! No I'm not referring to the Lady's of the evening, but to the Band Cheap Trick playing "Sgt. Peppers Live". Last night was the final show at Paris Hotel and Casino as Harrah's has not renewed the contract. The show has recently been at the Las Vegas Hilton and after seeing the show I will be surprised if the show is not picked up by a major casino on the strip.
I have lived in Las Vegas since 1969 and I remember the shows Wayne Newton, Elvis, Diana Ross and The Supremes, all having a live orchestra. Then in the 1980's that changed to canned music and the death of big name headliners being replaced by review type shows. It has only been recently with the return of Stars like Celine Dion, Cher, Bette Midler, Babara Streisand and others, have we seen a return to full orchestra's.
From the start of the show you are over whelmed with the richness and depth that only can be experienced being at a live concert. Sgt. Peppers songs are the perfect medium to showcase a full live orchestra. Cheap Trick is the perfect band that had been influenced by the Beatles in their early formation to perform Sgt Peppers Live and this is not a revival.
Cheap Trick played all of the Beatles songs on the Sgt. Peppers Band album, and eight of their own songs from the past and one song off their 28th album that was just recently released.
Cheap Trick ended the show with "All You Need Is Love" While pink confetti hearts fell from the sky to blanket the crowd with love. No one was left sitting, children to seniors were in awe, including my self. This is a must see when the Sgt Peppers Live featuring Cheap Trick returns.
I would like to give special thanks to my best Friend and his wife Larry and Susan D. for this very special evening to share and cherish. Thank you.
